Robert has also appeared on radio and in several short films. He records audio books. recently for Norton Shakespeare in Shakespeare's The Complete Works playing, among others Hamlet, and he regularly takes part in the Read not Dead readings for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
In theatre Robert was nominated for best supporting actor in the 2017 UK theatre awards for House & Garden (Newbury Watermill). Most recently he has appeared in a national tour of Alan Bennett's The Habit of Art. Other theatre includes: The title role in Tara Arts' Macbeth, Anita and Me (Birmingham Rep), Much Ado About Nothing (RSC and West End),Merchant of Venice (RSC, World Tour), Chili in The Black Album (RNT/Tara), As You Like It, Merlin, Much Ado About Nothing, Hercules (Grosvenor Park Open Air, Chester), Prospero in The Tempest (Tara Arts and West End), Stockman in Enemy of the People, Bassanio in Merchant of Venice, Baron Von Munchausen, The Penal Colony, Medea (Tara Arts), Gandhi and Coconuts, Tagore’s Women (Kali Theatre) and UK tours of Much Ado About Nothing (Byre, St.Andrews), As You Like It (Sphinx), Romeo and Juliet and East is East for Leicester Haymarket. He has toured extensively in the US in productions of Shakespeare, including Laertes in Hamlet, Leontes in The Winter’s Tale and Jaques in As you Like It.
Robert trained at RADA. His professional debut was as regular Hussein Ali, a pupil barrister in Channel Four’s award-winning drama North Square. Subsequent television appearances include Torn (ITV), One Night, Eastenders, Casualty, Doctors, Reverse Psychology, The World According to Bex and Michael Wood’s Story of India, Silent Witness and Holby City for the BBC, London’s Burning (LWT), A&E (Always and Everyone for Granada ITV).
